FAQ'S Gladiolaz
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Gladiolaz wigs, hair care, and orders — all in one place.
Sizing & Fit
How do I measure my head for the right cap size?
Grab a soft measuring tape and take three measurements: (1) Circumference — wrap the tape around your head from your front hairline, behind your ears, around the nape, and back to start. (2) Front to Nape — from your front hairline straight back over the crown to the nape. (3) Ear to Ear — across your front hairline from the top of one ear to the other. Always measure with your natural hair braided or wrapped flat, exactly as you'll wear it under the wig.
What cap sizes do you offer?
We offer three standard sizes: Petite (21"–21.5"), Average (22"–22.5", most common), and Large (23"–23.5"). Most Gladiolaz units include internal adjustment straps — if you're between sizes, go with the larger size and tighten the straps for a comfortable, secure fit.
Why does my curly or wavy wig look shorter than the listed length?
Curls and waves create natural shrinkage. All hair lengths at Gladiolaz are measured when the strand is gently stretched straight. A 22" deep wave unit, for example, will appear 2–4 inches shorter than a 22" straight unit because of the curl pattern's bounce. To see the true length, pull a single strand straight.
Does the length measurement include the lace?
No. We measure from the hair's point of origin at the crown — the lace area and any forehead overhang are not included in the length.
Can I wear a wig if I have a lot of natural hair?
Absolutely. Braid your natural hair into small cornrows or a flat wrap before putting on the wig. This keeps the cap from feeling too tight or looking bulky, and gives you the flattest, most natural-looking base.
Hair Quality & Authenticity
What type of hair do you use — is it real human hair?
Yes. Every Gladiolaz unit is crafted from 100% virgin human hair. Our hair is chemical-free, meaning the cuticle remains fully intact. We specialize in premium Brazilian hair, known for being thick, soft, and durable — widely considered the gold standard for its ability to blend effortlessly with natural hair.
How do I know the hair is authentic and not synthetic?
Authentic human hair has a distinct reaction to heat and water — it retains natural movement, can be bleached or dyed, and responds to heat tools just like your own hair. Synthetic fibers, by contrast, will melt under high heat and resist pigment. Our products have also passed strict inspections by the National Hair Care Products Quality Supervision Center.
Is Gladiolaz hair ethically sourced?
Yes. We are committed to ethical sourcing practices, ensuring our hair is obtained responsibly and treated with the highest level of care before it reaches you.
Can I dye or bleach my wig?
Yes — because our hair is 100% virgin human hair, it can be colored, bleached, and heat-styled to match your personal aesthetic. For bleaching to a lighter shade (such as 613 blonde), we recommend having it done by a professional stylist to maintain the health and softness of the strands.
Why does my new hair have a scent when I open the package?
That light, fresh scent is from the protective moisture treatment we apply before shipping to ensure your hair arrives soft and conditioned. It is completely normal and will disappear after your first wash.
Is some shedding normal?
A small amount of shedding is normal — just like your own hair. However, heavy shedding is not our standard, and we stand behind the construction of our wefts and caps. Following our care guide (especially detangling gently from ends to roots) will minimize shedding significantly.
Style & Care
Can I use heat tools on my wig?
Yes. Gladiolaz hair is 100% human hair, so you can use flat irons, curling tongs, and blow dryers just as you would on your natural hair. Always apply a heat protectant spray before using hot tools, and avoid high heat every single day — excessive heat over time can shorten the lifespan of the hair fibers.
How often should I wash my wig?
If you wear it daily, wash every 7–10 wears. If you wear it occasionally, wash it when you notice product buildup or the hair starts to feel heavy. Over-washing can strip moisture, so less is more.
How do I wash my wig properly?
Detangle first with a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends and working up. Soak the unit in a bowl of lukewarm water with a capful of wig shampoo for 10 minutes — gently swirl, never rub. Rinse under cool running water until clear, pat dry with a soft towel (never wring), apply a leave-in conditioner on the ends, and air dry completely on a wig stand before styling.
My hair feels dry — what should I do?
A deep conditioning treatment or a small amount of Moroccan oil applied to the ends can restore moisture and shine quickly. Going forward, use lightweight serums and sulfate-free shampoos to keep the hair hydrated without buildup.
What products should I avoid?
Avoid heavy oils, waxes, and products with sulfates. These weigh the hair down, cause buildup, and can dull the hair's natural luster over time. Stick to lightweight, wig-friendly serums and sulfate-free shampoos.
Can I sleep in my wig?
We recommend removing it at night to extend its lifespan. If you must sleep in it, wear a silk bonnet or use a satin pillowcase to prevent friction, tangling, and frizz.
How long will my Gladiolaz wig last?
With consistent care: 6–12 months for daily wearers, and 12+ months for occasional wearers. How you store and maintain the hair when you're not wearing it is just as important as how you treat it when you are.
How should I store my wig?
Place it on a mannequin head or wig stand to help the cap hold its shape. For travel or long-term storage, put the clean, dry hair in a silk or satin bag to prevent friction and frizz. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
